Lincoln Township
43.35.832N
085.52.672W
The Lincoln township site is still active, and boasts one of the few monuments in the county which could be described as "whimsical", belonging to Comet Halley Briggs. The inscription on her beautiful white stone reads "First Sighted June 1, 1910, Aetna Michigan, Passed June 30, 1993, Big Rapids, Michigan" and includes a small map of the world and a depiction of Ms. Briggs' namesake comet. In addition, there are currently three very (1, 2, 3) interesting carved wooden markers, and one made from a saw blade. Finally, the memorial (1, 2) to someone known only as Ma Parker - a small, battered wooden cross - is a poignant reminder of the difficult lives that many in Newaygo County have suffered.
