The Merrill Township site is, in my opinion at least, one of the most desolate sites in Newaygo County. Located on a seasonal two track it is difficult to reach much of the year and although it is still active it has an air of being abandoned. There are what seems like an abnormally large number of children buried here, and the size of the site when compared to the amount of open space would seem to indicate many unmarked burials as well, and indeed there are several signs of damage to monuments. It is not a site to be taken lightly.
