Williamsburg was an early British settlement, and is now a privatized attraction. While its not a tourist trap, its not exactly a national park, either. Irregardless of the golf course and requisite gift shops, it is still a very interesting place to visit and offers a fascinating insight into 18th century life in the colonies.
