For many years there was a portland cement factory on Penoyer Creek where it entered the Muskegon River, later this site was home to a variety of other companies. Power was supplied by a small hydroelectric dam which crossed the river just below where the M37 bridge crosses. The dam was removed in the early 1970's. Any assistance with dates of operation, additional photographs, or other information regarding these companies would be greatly appreciated.
