Settlements and Ghost Towns Points of Interest
Country schools, the old fashioned "one room schoolhouses" that people from more urban areas often associate with "The Waltons" and "Little House on the Prairie" were in operation in Newaygo County until well into the 1960's, although few of the nearly 100 original structures still remain standing. A surprising number of these have been converted into private residences, and must make very interesting houses. Others have been converted into meeting halls or community buildings, but most lie in ruin or are gone all together.
