| Originally named Weaverville, then changed to Fremont Center in 1862 and finally simply Fremont in 1911 in honor of the famous Civil War general. Home to the world famous Gerber Baby Food Company and many Dutch immegrant families, Fremont is the largest community in Newaygo County. |
